Remote Hydrogeological Project Manager - State of South Carolina (Contract) Job ID: 9066 Location: Remote (Must live within a 6-hour radius of Columbia, SC 29201 for potential onsite travel) Duration: 12 Months (with possibility of extension) Pay Rate: $50/Hour (W2 - No Benefits) About the Role The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES), Bureau of Water (BOW), is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Remote Hydrogeological Project Manager to coordinate and complete critical hydrogeological projects. This contract role involves significant project management and technical review of groundwater monitoring and land application sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities As a Project Manager, you will work under limited supervision to support the SCDES Bureau of Water. Your primary responsibilities will include: Project Coordination & Review: Coordinate and complete complex hydrogeological project evaluations and feasibility reviews, specifically for land application and groundwater monitoring sites requiring NPDES permits. Technical Evaluation: Review and evaluate historical and background monitoring data for existing and proposed sites using SCDES's IT applications, such as ePermitting. Groundwater Impact Assessment: Review new projects for their potential to impact groundwater and evaluate closure plans for permits being terminated. Written Recommendations: Provide expert written review comments and recommendations to Permit Engineers. Compliance & Planning: Review and initiate complex groundwater monitoring project plans and specifications for industrial and domestic wastewater facilities, adhering to established policy and guidance. Request and coordinate intra-agency input, including collaboration with enforcement and permitting personnel. Data Management: Maintain groundwater data collection and storage systems, ensuring an accurate status of all assigned projects within the groundwater tracking system and ePermitting. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a point of contact to provide information to the public, industrial representatives, and agricultural representatives. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Required) Education/Experience: A Master's degree in Hydrology, Geology, or Geological Engineering and one (1) year of related experience; OR A Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Geology, or Geological Engineering and two (2) years of related experience. Project Management Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience as a Project Manager. ePermitting Expertise: Completion of ePermitting Power User training AND demonstrated expertise with ePermitting or an equivalent electronic government permitting application (e.g., Windsor Solutions). Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desired) Hydrogeological Review: 5+ years of experience performing hydrogeological reviews and evaluations for land application and groundwater monitoring sites. Groundwater Expertise: 5+ years of experience with: Groundwater hydrogeology and geochemistry. Contaminant transport modeling. Hydrogeologic investigation techniques. Data & Geospatial Software: 5+ years of experience managing databases and using geospatial software (e.g., GIS). Transformative Project Delivery: Expertise in managing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of numerous concurrent complex projects. ⚠️ Additional Job Information Employment Type: Contract Job Category: Project Management / Information Technology Travel/Residency: This is a Remote Job.
