Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, facility systems, and utilities across electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration disciplines. This role supports safe and efficient operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, interpreting technical documentation, and collaborating with operations and engineering teams. Ideal candidates bring specialized expertise in one of the following: industrial electrical systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, or industrial mechanical systems. What You’ll Do: • Repair, install, and maintain production equipment, facility systems, and utilities. • Perform specialized work depending on assigned track:Refrigeration: Maintain ammonia refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, compressors, glycol, steam, and chilled water systems; support PSM/HAZMAT compliance. Electrical: Install/repair motors, VFDs, transformers, control circuits, alarms, and 3-phase power up to 480V; troubleshoot electrical schematics and control systems. Mechanical: Repair freezers, conveyors, filling machines, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics; perform welding, fabrication, machining, and mechanical rebuilds. • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues using meters, gauges, and diagnostic tools. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Perform preventive maintenance and maintain accurate CMMS documentation. • Support safety programs including GMP, HAZMAT, and emergency response. • Operate forklifts, man lifts, and tools required for repair and installation. • Work in extreme temperatures and variable indoor/outdoor environments. Experience You’ll Need: High school diploma or GED required. Must meet one of the specialization requirements below:Refrigeration: NYS-approved HVAC/R apprenticeship or 2-year degree + 3 years ammonia/multi-gas experience. Electrical: NYS-approved electrician apprenticeship or 2-year degree + 3 years industrial electrical experience. Mechanical: NYS-approved millwright/mechanical apprenticeship or 2-year mechanical/mechatronics degree + 3 years industrial mechanic experience. Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, squat, bend, and work at heights with fall protection. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to wear a respirator and maintain HAZMAT certification. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain. Bonus: CARO/CIRO, Stationary Engineer License, PLC experience.
