Summary Heavy Duty Truck Technician I (11:00 AM - 8:00 PM), under the general supervision of the Shop Foreman, inspects, diagnoses, and repairs non-complex issues associated with diesel-powered vehicles and machines. Their main duties include running diagnostic tests, replacing or repairing tires, assisting more advanced technicians and test driving the vehicles to determine if repairs were completed adequately. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs preventative maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment according to manufacturer specifications Ensures completion of daily vehicle maintenance checklists and work orders; monitors the consumption of fuel, oil, grease, and hydraulic fluid for maintenance purposes Assists in hauling heavy equipment from the Service Center to project sites for the Street and Drainage Divisions Assists in coordinating with the Fleet Service Division to ensure timely repair of all equipment and vehicles Provides mobile repair services and responds to roadside assistance requests Ensures the shop environment remains clean, safe, and organized Serves as 24-hour secondary on-call personnel as part of a rotation Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of experience as a Diesel Engine Technician or the equivalent combination of education and experience Furnishes own hand tools Certifications and Licenses Class B CDL driver's license or ability to obtain within 12 months EPA Section 609 Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months ASE T8 Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months Thank you for your interest in the position.
